Decisive power. Faster workflow. Absolute reliability.

Like every Nikon flagship camera that has come before it, the D6 holds nothing back. Featuring Nikon's most powerful AF system to date for capturing every heart-pounding, pivotal moment, the D6 is an uncompromising workhorse DSLR that lives up to every professional demand in any environment. And because every second counts in the field, the D6 is loaded with new time-saving workflow enhancements and advanced customization options. The moments that define us, that show what we're capable of, the ones that live on, are waiting to be captured with a Nikon D6 DSLR.

The most powerful AF in Nikon's history.

The Nikon D6 breaks new ground in DSLR autofocus performance, outclassing the highly acclaimed AF system of its predecessor, the D5. A new high density, 105-point fully selectable, all cross-type sensor AF system allows photographers to set focus almost anywhere in the frame without recomposing. A reimagined focus point layout reduces non-AF-sensitive areas with a triple sensor arrangement for each individual focus point, resulting in 1.6x more AF coverage, even with moving subjects in high-speed shooting modes.

Precision focusing with 17 custom Group Area AF choices.

For reliable subject acquisition around distracting foreground objects like a net, player, or other obstacle, sports photographers will find the D6's 17 selectable Group Area AF patterns indispensable.

Image quality that shines in any light.

The combination of the D6's high-resolution 20.8MP FX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 image-processing engine enables class-leading ISO up to 102,400 (expandable to ISO 3,280,000) for exceptional image quality in diverse lighting conditions. This high sensitivity and resolution significantly reduce low-light noise and improve AF detection over the D5.

Turbo-charged by EXPEED 6 processor.

The D6 is powered by Nikon's fastest, most comprehensive image processing engine to date—EXPEED 6. It enhances photo/video quality, autofocus, low-light performance, noise suppression, distortion control, image clarity, and color reproduction.

Fast and reliable 14 fps continuous shooting.

For high-speed action, the D6 shoots 14 fps for up to 200 continuous shots at JPEG fine quality. Its optical viewfinder provides real-time composition, while its mechanical shutter prevents banding or flickering—crucial for professionals.

Astounding 60 fps stills in video mode.

In movie live view mode, the D6 can capture 2MP images at approx. 60fps or 8MP images at approx. 30fps. AF locks on the first frame while AE continuously adjusts.

Silent when discretion counts.

Switching to Live View allows silent shooting at up to 10.5fps with the full 20.8MP resolution. AE tracks continuously, though rolling shutter distortion may occur.

Advanced scene recognition for intelligent exposure.

A 180K-pixel Advanced Scene Recognition System works with the AF and EXPEED 6 engines to ensure precise auto exposure, autofocus, white balance, and more.

A full range of F mount pro lenses.

NIKKOR F-mount lenses offer exceptional clarity and sharpness—from ultra-wide-angle to super-telephoto—ideal for sports, wildlife, indoor, and low-light photography.

Built tough.

The D6 features a robust yet lightweight magnesium alloy body designed for durability, heat dissipation, and electromagnetic shielding. The shutter is tested for 400,000 cycles.

Pro-grade weather sealing.

Extensive sealing ensures resistance to dust and water droplets, enabling confident shooting in challenging environments.

Illuminated controls.

Top and rear LCD panels and buttons illuminate with a lever for easy adjustments in the dark.

The ultimate shape shifter.

With extensive customization and workflow flexibility, the D6 adapts seamlessly to fast-paced assignments.

Instant access to presets.

Recallable shooting functions help photographers switch between preset settings quickly, ideal for dynamic sports events.

Advanced customizations.

With 14 customizable buttons offering up to 46 functions, the D6 provides intuitive access to important settings.

Save time by saving menu settings.

High-resolution monitor with full touch control.

The 2360k-dot 3.2-inch touch LCD provides a smartphone-like interface for smooth control.

Button-free image annotation, transfer and more.

Images can be sent, rated, protected, or prioritized by flick gestures in playback—especially useful with the WT-6 wireless transmitter.

Dual CFexpress card slots.

Compatible with CFexpress and XQD cards, offering flexible options such as overflow, backup, RAW+JPEG separation, and file copying.

Clear, lag-free optical viewfinder.

The OVF provides bright, real-time visibility for comfortable long-duration shooting.

Built-in GPS.

Accurately records location and time data—useful for landscapes, astrophotography, and journalism.

The most well-connected Nikon flagship camera ever.

With built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and high-speed 1000BASE-T wired LAN, the D6 offers fast and reliable connectivity. Wireless LAN is available via built-in 2.4/5GHz or the WT-6 transmitter.

Standardized metadata editing.

Supports standard IPTC metadata compatible with XML for easy confirmation and editing using industry tools like Photo Mechanic.

Style-defining creative filters.

Offers 20 Creative Picture Controls that can be previewed in real-time for both photos and videos.

Multiple ways to create multiple exposures.

Create expressive multiple exposures traditionally or by combining previously shot images from the retouch menu.

Focus stacking made easy.

Focus Shift Mode captures up to 300 shots with continuously shifting focus—excellent for product, jewelry, and landscape photography.

Impressive video capability.

Capture detailed 4K UHD video, 60p Full HD slow motion, and use advanced tools like focus peaking, zebra, timecode, and electronic VR.
