The WG-50 comes equipped with a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, with approx. 16 megapixels, which assures excellent high-sensitivity and low-noise characteristics with a top sensitivity of ISO 6400.
Featuring a 5x optical zoom lens along equivalent to 140mm in 35mm format to capture action at a distance while the 28mm wide-angle lens is perfect for landscapes and selfies.
The WG-50 comes with various scene modes, starting with Program, Auto Picture, HDR, Handheld Night Snap, Movie, High Speed Movie, Digital Microscope, Landscape, Flower, Portrait, Underwater, Underwater Movie, Interval Shooting, Interval Movie, Surf & Snow, Kids, Pet, Sport, Night Scene, Night Scene Portrait, Fireworks, Food, Digital SR and Report. All scene modes except for Program mode will automatically adjust camera settings for best results according to the selected scene.
The Underwater mode has been upgraded from the WG-30 by optimizing the white balance, resulting in more natural coloring. In addition, a Flash Bracketing mode has been adopted. The Flash Bracketing mode takes two photos, ( Flash On and Flash Off) with the push of the shutter release providing greater usability for underwater photography.
In addition to the available image tones of the WG-30, two additional image tones, Vibrant and Slide Film have been added. These newly added tones are well known with PENTAX D-SLR's.
With the selection of Image Tone and Scene Mode, the photographer has a various options of expressing their creativity.
